You will be warmly welcomed by our staff who can help you with your paperwork.

Upon entering our office, our Chiropractic Assistant will greet you and welcome you as a member of our chiropractic family. We will request you fill out some brief paperwork which will provide us with general information about yourself and your condition. The paperwork is also available online by clicking here.

Spinal Scans

Once the paperwork has been completed, our Chiropractic Assistant will conduct a spinal scan. This is done using our Insight Millennium Subluxation Station, a state-of-the-art system that checks your spine for subluxations and assesses the functions of the nervous system. The use of this instrument is part of the objective analysis of the spine and nerve system. There are no needles, electric shock, or heat involved in these scans.

We primarily utilize two scans in order to receive an objective picture of your nerve system.

  • Surface Electromyography (SEMG) Scan – This scan measures the amount of current in the muscles along your spine. Vertebral subluxations disturb the function of the nerve system causing an abnormal amount of electrical current flowing to your muscles. The Symmetry scan identifies muscle imbalance caused by an abnormal amount of electrical current in the muscles on either side of the spine. The abnormal muscle pattern on the scan revels an increased amount of tension on one side compared to the other side.
  • Thermal Scan – This scan measures temperature differential on one side of the spine compared to the other. When there is a disturbance to the communication of the nerve system, the blood vessels are disturbed and it can cause the body’s thermostat to malfunction producing an imbalanced temperature reading. The Central Nervous System controls the blood vessels and the organs and glands, known as the autonomic system. This thermal scan provides information regarding the autonomic system.

These scans will help Dr. Burtis look at every aspect of the nervous system and will give a “snap shot” of the stress that is being experienced. Regardless of how good you feel, the scans can detect any hidden patterns of accumulated stress in your body and then Dr. Burtis can provide a tailor-made program to meet your specific needs.

Consultation & Examination

Next you will have a consultation with Dr. Scott Burtis to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and review your spinal scan findings with you. Your first visit is designed for Dr. Burtis to learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations to determine whether chiropractic care meets your goals.

Same Day Treatment

Once finished with the examination and all appropriate studies, patients will generally be provided with their first treatment during this same visit. This may include spinal adjustments and/or soft tissue therapies. Treatment is interactive with you so you can express any concerns you have about the style of adjustment you will be most comfortable with.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.

Schedule Your Next Appointment

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings. Treatment options for your condition will also be discussed during this time.
